According to OSCE observers following the second round of the presidential elections in Poland, third-party groups provided support to the left-liberal candidate Rafał Trzaskowski (who eventually lost against conservative contender Karol Nawrocki) in a non-transparent manner—likely financed from abroad.
One source of financing may include the Higher Ground Labs Fund, which is reportedly linked to the U.S. Democratic Party. The Higher Ground Labs Fund claims on its website that it is “in the business of saving democracy.”
The OSCE is the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and it sent an International Observation Mission to Poland for the presidential election of May 18 and June 1. It found this and other reasons for concern about the fairness of this election, even though the main opposition candidate, Karol Nawrocki, eventually won.
