China’s great economic power and primary orientation towards exports in relation to the internal market encourage China to expand. Military protection of both the supply routes and final destination zones of its products, as well as its infrastructural and other investments and projects are how China spreads its influence and power beyond its traditional area in Southeast Asia.

The lack of a sufficient amount of its own (primarily fossil) energy sources – oil and gas – encourages China to develop and operationalize a national strategy to ensure a stable supply of these energy sources, especially in the context of increasingly dangerous global stage, in which China itself is one of the key targets of opposing major players.

This is precisely the reason why Beijing wants strategic relations with Moscow; it wants to ensure first of all economic stability. Beijing is starting to plan for its projection of power in the world. China has also signed agreements on cooperation with numerous countries of the Middle East – the traditional zone of strategic action of the USA. Chinese partners there are now very diverse — Iran, the rich Arab monarchies – the UAE and Saudi Arabia, all the way to Egypt and still deep in the heart of the African continent. In addition, Beijing is rapidly expanding its interests and projects in Central Asia, including Azerbaijan.

Apart from the political dimension that it uses, which primarily includes the BRICS format (when it comes to the global level of Chinese activity) and the Shanghai Organization (SCO) focused primarily on Eurasia, China is increasingly projecting its military power both in “its own backyard” (in the areas of the South China and East China Seas), and now openly all over the world.

Chinese modern warships are already numerically superior to the American naval fleet (except when it comes to tonnage considering the much larger number of American aircraft carriers). In the wake of the Israeli-Iranian 12-day war and the American airstrikes on the Iranian Fordow nuclear facility, China sailed to the south of the Persian Gulf and actively observed the events, which was previously unthinkable. The increasingly frequent navigation of Chinese military ships in European seas (international waterways) – from the Mediterranean to the Baltic, even with the intention of participating in joint exercises or ceremonial parades of the Russian military fleet, such as the one held a few years ago in Saint Petersburg, is also new.

China militarily supports President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian army in relation to the conflict in Gaza. Chinese military and intelligence circles are studying all aspects, forms and developments of tensions on the Egyptian-Israeli border, in conjunction with the unprecedented escalation of Egyptian military deployment in Sinai. This coincided with joint air maneuvers between Egypt and China, which caused clear concern in Tel Aviv, which considered these Egyptian military movements with China a violation of the Camp David Agreement. This comes at a time when relations between the two sides have deteriorated rapidly since the outbreak of the Gaza war on October 7, 2023.

China has made military access and the establishment of military bases outside the Chinese mainland a key element of Beijing’s global military ambitions to preserve its global network of interests and its ambitious Belt and Road initiative. China is developing an aggressive military plan to establish numerous military and naval bases in the Mediterranean, Red Sea and Arabian Gulf with most Arab and Gulf countries getting on board.

China is openly challenging the military power of the United States. China is also developing a long-term plan to develop military bases in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. The Chinese military has multiple motives for establishing facilities abroad, whether for offensive or defensive planning, enabling China to maintain a permanent presence in the region and openly threaten Washington’s strategic interests. This would increase China’s ability to intervene in crises that could arise on a larger scale and faster than ever before. These overseas military bases are also expected to allow China to launch major combat operations far from the country where they are established.

China is trying to establish a military foothold through various Chinese military mechanisms. These simple, transitional or temporary forms of Chinese military presence, from allowing military overflights, joint military exercises and increased sales of Chinese weapons, to supplying warships and managing small military facilities, are carefully considered steps taken by China, paving the way for the establishment of large Chinese military bases.

Analysis shows that China is seeking to reduce the US military presence with the help of Iran. China is investing heavily in infrastructure and energy projects, creating economic interdependence.

Since China is strengthening its military cooperation with all the countries of the region, Beijing is playing an increasing role in resolving regional conflicts and is trying to present itself as a reliable partner.

China developed an emergency military plan to help its close Iranian ally, especially after direct Israeli and then US military attacks on a number of Iranian nuclear facilities. Here, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard issued a statement, with the indirect support of China, stressing that “any additional American aggression against Iran will lead to the collapse of the American military presence,” describing American bases as “the main weak point and pillar of this war-hungry regime.”

China is starting to openly seek a leading role, so that Washington cannot influence events. The situation in the Middle East is just the beginning because China is starting to challenge America in other parts of the world.

Oh, so true…yet Trump claims to have a “Great” relationship with Xi. He is either totally blinded by Xi’s ability to smooze his ego, or his “team” is shielding him from the TRUTH! Either way, we appear to be moving in the WRONG direction! 600,000 Chinese student Visa’s have usurped 600,000 spots at Harvard, and the Ivy’s, MIT, Stanford, Cal Tech, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech….and don’t forget CMU(the Army’s designated civilian partner for developing DATA Science…) . I am sure all 600,000 students are NOT here to see that the US maintains its’s world leadership in technology. WTH does it take for the country to wake up!!!!!!!!! China has purchased our Universities- made them RACIST towards intelligent white males for decades-we are so corrupt, no one cares! We don’t even need to bring up the military, we are “handing ourselves” over, all for $$$$$.
