Armenian Military Exercises In Georgia

This month the Armenian armed forces and Georgian soldiers are launching a 25-day exercise in the training center in Sachkhere (Imereti region, Georgia), declared the press service of the Georgian Ministry of Defense.

The decision to train the Armenian military was made last year during a visit of the Minister of Defense of Armenia, Vigen Sargsyan, in Tbilisi. In addition to Armenian and Georgian military forces, troops from Lithuania and France are also involved in the exercise.

The winter drills consist of two stages. The first consists of improving military tactics, specifically shooting. The second phase of the exercise includes a trip to the Gudauri ski resort, where soldiers will be trained in searching for victims, their evacuation etc.

The training School in Sachkhere was founded in 2004. In 2010, by decision of the North Atlantic Council, the school was given the status of a center for education and training of NATO program “Partnership for Peace” (Partnership for Peace).
