In a statement to the International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA) on Wednesday, Iran declared they have initiated research into uranium metal to be used as fuel for a research reactor in the latest violation of the 2015 nuclear deal formally led by the United States and signed by major world powers.

The announcement comes as Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) General Hossein Salami announced to Iranian state media on Wednesday the regime has “no need for the JCPOA whether or not the US rejoins the deal,” reports the Algemeiner.

In what he labeled as “the stupidest deal of all time,” President Trump led the United States’ exit from the deal in 2018. The decision to pull out was just one piece of the comprehensive hardline approach the Trump administration has taken against Iran over the duration of Trump’s presidency.

Based in Vienna, the IAEA stated that “Iran informed the Agency in a letter on 13 January that ‘modification and installation of the relevant equipment for the mentioned R&D activities have been already started,’ ” reports Times of Israel.

Aimed to produce advanced fuel for a research reactor located in Tehran, this latest violation raises alarms around the globe as the metal can be used to develop nuclear weapons — the key aspect the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) attempted to counter.

Tehran ramped up violations of the agreement after Trump pulled the U.S. from the deal, violations increased over the last several months after Iran’s top nuclear scientist was assassinated in November, which the regime blames on Israeli.

Additionally, after Tuesday night’s colossal campaign against Iranian weapon caches on the Syrian-Iraqi border which targeted 15 separate Iranian-linked facilities, Likud minister Tzachi Hanegbi indicated Israel might take action against the Mullah’s nuclear facilities if the incoming Biden administration reenters the JCPOA agreement.

“If the United States government rejoins the nuclear deal — and that seems to be the stated policy as of now — the practical result will be that Israel will again be alone against Iran, which by the end of the deal will have received a green light from the world, including the United States, to continue with its nuclear weapons program,” Hanegbi stated to Kan news.

“ ‘This of course we will not allow. We’ve already twice done what needed to be done, in 1981 against the Iraqi nuclear program and in 2007 against the Syrian nuclear program,’ he said, referring to airstrikes on those two countries’ nuclear reactors,” reported Times of Israel.

Joe Biden served as vice president to Barack Obama when the Obama administration signed the Iranian nuclear deal, and is likely to resume negotiations. After rocky relations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Obama administration moved forward with the JCPOA despite significant opposition from The Jewish State.

Here in the USA, I did not know about the 2021 airstrikes in Syria until coming across your story on Whatfinger dot com.
After a search, I see it characterized as Israel hoping to stir up trouble during the US government transition.
Seems more like a long-term maintenance operation to push the threats away from the border to me. Best always to the only democracy in the middle east. Pray for USA please.
