Romanian money figures prominently in the new indictment filed in U.S. Dictrict Court for the Central District of California charging Hunter Biden with tax evasion. Gabriel “Puiu” Popoviciu, the Romanian oligarch implicated in the Hunter Biden bribery scandal has had his sentence quietly vacated by a Romanian court. Popoviciu, convicted in Romania on bribery charges and sentenced to seven years in prison, had paid over $3 million to Hunter Biden who brought in former FBI Director Louis Freeh to defend the oligarch. His investment in the Biden Crime Family paid off as his sentence was vacated by a corrupt Romanian court earlier this year.
According to the indictment, “In the fall of 2015, the Defendant [Hunter Biden] entered into an oral agreement with Business Associate 1 [former FBI Director Louis Freeh] purportedly to help a Romanian businessperson, G.P. [Gabriel Popoviciu], contest bribery charges he was facing in his home country. G.P. paid an entity associated with Business Associate 1, through G.P.’s Romanian business. Between November 2015 and May 2017, Business Associate 1’s entity received approximately $3,101,258, which was split roughly into thirds between the Defendant, Business Associate 1, and Business Associate 2.”
In emails on the infamous Hunter Biden laptop, Freeh told Biden that he would “like to make a small payment to you for this referral – and for your continuing work on this matter. This is a standard practice… We would just need your bank information in order to make a remittance.”
“Thank you Judge Freeh… So honored that you agreed to take this on,” the younger Biden replied.
“Thank you Hunter and I would be delighted to do future work with you,” Freeh answered. “I also spoke to Dad [Joe Biden] a few weeks ago and would like to explore with him some future work options. I believe that working together on these (and other legal) matters would be of value, fun and rewarding.”
The indictment alleges that Hunter Biden failed to pay taxes on the money he received as a result of this “arrangement.”
