Bulgaria’s new globalist government is following the lead of Volodomir Zelensky by persecuting Christians in the name of state security. Ukraine has notoriously shuttered churches and arrested clergy in the name of national security. Now the Bulgarian government has also issued an order expelling the head of the Russian Orthodox Church in Sofia, Archimandrite Vasian, from Bulgaria.

Last Thursday, priests of the Russian Orthodox Church “were summoned to the migration office, where they were told that they were a threat to Bulgaria’s national security and should leave the country today,” Russian Ambassador to Sofia, Eleonora Mitrofanova, told the media. “At the same time, they were taken away so they could collect their belongings, then taken to the church and driven to the border with Serbia. This is an unprecedented event, the church is separated from the state and it is not clear how the clergy can threaten national security.”

The co-chairman of “Democratic Bulgaria,” one of the globalist coalition partners in the government brokered by the U.S. Embassy, Atanas Atanasov, the priest in question was allegedly trying to cause schism in the Macedonian church. There is suspicion in Bulgarian political circles that the move was orchestrated by the U.S. Embassy in Sofia. U.S. Ambassador Kenneth Merten met with Bulgarian Church officials only days before the Government announced the move.

The Russian Embassy condemned the move by Bulgarian authorities: “It is obvious that the current leadership of Bulgaria has set itself the task of destroying not only the socio-political, cultural and humanitarian ties between our countries, but also to break the relations between sister Russia and Bulgarian Orthodox churches and to embitter the Russian and Bulgarian peoples against each other.”

Kostadin Kostadinov, leader of Vazrazhdane, Bulgaria’s leading opposition party, harshly criticized the move by the globalists on his Telegram channel: “When I wrote on Friday that today [Sunday] I would go in front of the Russian church to light a candle for forgiveness and to clear the shame that was brought to us by the ruling American regime with the expulsion of the Russian priests, I did not expect that so many people would come. There were more than 1,000 people who clearly stated their position against the actions of the puppet government. Next Sunday at 10 o'clock I will be there again, and so every Sunday until the church opens. And it can only be opened by the one who closed it - the puppet American regime in Sofia.”
