Up to twenty thousand Serbians gathered in St. Sava Square in Belgrade to protest the so-called Franco-German plan to recognize the independence of the breakaway province of Kosovo. People are appalled at the hypocrisy of Western leaders who clamor for war to defend the territorial integrity of Ukraine, while at the same time undermining that of Serbia. They also opposed globalist efforts to take over the country.

The protest was organized on the 19th anniversary of the ethnic cleansing of Serbs and non-Albanians from Kosovo and Metohia by the provisional regime in the breakaway Serbian province of Kosovo. During 3 days, over 4,000 people were expelled, 28 people were killed, and 900 were seriously injured. Over 935 houses and 35 churches were burned and destroyed during the purge.

The government, which has tried to appease the West, tried to stop the protest by not allowing people from outside the capital to enter. The leader of the center-right opposition Zavetnici Party, Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski, told followers on Twitter, “The police stopped all the buses carrying our members and sympathizers who were going to the rally in front of the Saint Sava Temple…. Literally from all locations. Further movement was prevented, and the vehicles were sent for an extraordinary technical inspection. The regime of Aleksandar Vučić prevents Serbs from marking the anniversary of the Pogrom. You cannot prevent the people from telling you and your bosses in Brussels what they think: THE ULTIMATUM WILL NOT PASS! SEE YOU IN FRONT OF THE TEMPLE.”

Boško Obradović, leader of the opposition Dveri Party, declared, “Belgrade has found its Kosovo soul again tonight.” Protesters insisted that Kosovo and Metohija are the heart and soul of Serbia and opposed efforts to compel Serbia to renounce its territory. “We are defending Kosovo from the West, from NATO! Joseph Biden is evil!” protesters shouted, while carrying banners that read “Kosovo is not for sale,” “Serbia, not the European Union,” and “No to capitulation!”

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Albin Kurti, prime minister of the breakaway province, are scheduled to meet with Josep Borrell, the head of EU diplomacy, on Saturday in Ohrid to discuss the implementation of the Franco-German plan for normalizing relations that is being forced on Serbia by the U.S. and EU.

There are reports of a media blackout by the government in Serbia ahead of the Saturday meeting. The government has been bending to pressure from the West to impose sanctions on Russia and to recognize the self-proclaimed independence of Kosovo. The recent declarations by the Serbian Minister of Economy, Rade Basta, in support of sanctions caused a huge uproar in the country and is considered a sign that the government is moving to appease globalist interests. It remains to be seen if the voices of the protesters will impact the actions of Vučić in Ohrid on Saturday.
