Raw materials from Serbia started flowing into Kosovo today, on the first day after the government of Albin Kurti lifted tariffs imposed by the previous government in November 2018.
The first truck with Serbian imports entered Kosovo this morning, following yesterday’s government decision to lift tariffs on raw materials from Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. The truck contained packing materials originating from Serbia.
Kosovo’s government lifted tariffs on raw materials yesterday, which comprise about that 75 percent of the country’s total imports from Serbia.
On April 1, the government will fully lift the tariffs on other goods, and start implementation of reciprocity measures with Serbia in all fields.
Today, after the lifting of tariffs, Minister of Economy Rozeta Hajdari called on the international community involved in reviving the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue to exert pressure on Serbia to lift non-tariff trade barriers against Kosovo, in accordance with CEFTA agreement, and to stop lobbying countries to withdraw their recognition of Kosovo.
