Russians Most Worried About Inflation

A new poll by the Levada Center in Russia shows that inflation of food prices and other staples is what most concerns them for the future. This is the third year in a row that the economy has been of top concern.

Two-thirds of Russians say inflation is their main worry. Growing poverty is a large concern as well at 45%. Unemployment came in at 33%.

“The top three issues highlight the state’s inability to manipulate these categories with the help of propaganda mechanisms, Levada Center sociologist Karina Pipiya told RBC,” wrote The Moscow Times.

Russian Economic Crisis Reflected In Occupied Regions

Less than five percent are worried about state oppression of independent media and restrictions on civil rights.
