On 16th August 2024, a bridge seven miles north of the Ukrainian border, that spanned the Seym River near Glushkovo, was destroyed when a strike by a US HIMARS rocket caused the bridge to collapse.

The targeting of the bridge was to solidify Ukrainian control of the Glushkovsky district, as it what used by Russian forces as a key supply and logistics route, reported Inkerman.

This could mark a huge turning point in the war, in which Ukraine troops are on Russian soil and using American heavy rocket systems to take out major infrastructure.
