A Russian company is not happy that the U.S. and Germany have agreed to send M1 Abrams and the sophisticated Leopard tanks to Ukraine. The company is so disgruntled about it that it has issued a bounty for the destruction of the tanks.

According to local media reports, “A Russian company has offered a cash bounty of up to 5 million rubles ($71,648) for the destruction or capture of Western-made tanks recently promised to Ukraine by its European and American allies.”

The company behind the bounty is Yekaterinburg-based Fores, which has stipulated that the $70,000 bounty goes to the Russian troops, or mercenaries should it be the Wagner Group, that captures or destroys the first Western-made tank. All subsequent captured or destroyed Western tanks will have a payout of 500,000 rubles ($7,164).

When discussing the reason for the bounty, Fores said, “The decision to transfer western tanks to Kyiv indicates that NATO is no longer supplying Ukraine with defensive weapons only and means that we need to consolidate and support our army.”

The bounty was issued after the Kremlin announced that all tanks provided by the U.S. will “burn” and that the tanks will make no difference for Ukraine on the battlefield.

Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday, “I am certain that many experts understand the absurdity of this idea. The plan is disastrous in terms of technology.”

“But above all, it overestimates the potential it will add to the Ukrainian army. These tanks burn just like all the others,” Peskov added.
