After leaving the military, he pursued his other passion, finance, spending 18 years on Wall Street trading emerging market debt, and later, writing. The first of his many thrillers is "Currency." He is conversational in Russian and has studied the language and culture since the 1980s. He lives part time in Moscow.   • Mariam is from Tbilisi, Georgia. She’s a graduate from Free University Tbilisi, where she studied Governance and social sciences. She worked for several news agencies as a reporter specializing in international politics. Other than that she’s a devoted liberty activist and works with NGOs, activist groups and grassroots movements in South Caucasus region and throughout Europe. Starting from 2015 she’s an organiser of civic campaign which has been launched to counter the rise in anti-western messages and propaganda in the Caucasus region. She speaks English, Russian and French and is passionate about philosophy, biotechnology and the future of Artificial Intelligence.

  • IRENA SHABANI Is an Albanian freelance journalist and human rights activist specialising in investigative journalism. She co-founded Panorama, the leading newspaper in Albania, where she served as managing editor from 2002 to 2003. Prior to Panorama she was a journalist at Shekulli and Gazeta Shqiptare and has been part of the Albanian Human Rights Group from its beginning. She has collaborated on programmes for the International Research and Exchanges Board, investigating topics involving crime and political corruption and continues to collaborates with foreign organisations and local media focused on social problems and minority rights.
